Carl’s favorite photography subject – his sweetheart

Carl took a lot of photographs. And he clearly had one favorite subject for his pictures. It’s easy to see why….

That boy is as flaky as Michelle’s pie crust

It took me a lot of practice to get a really good pie crust. It is easy to mix too much and get a tough crust. I found that it is really important to use a large bowl for best results. At first, I mixed in a smaller bowl and my crusts were tougher and not very flaky. When I moved to a larger, wide bottomed bowl I got much better results.

What good is a crop you can’t eat or sell?

I love the outdoors. I enjoy fishing, hiking, camping, gardening, hanging out enjoying a book in the shade with a cold drink….but I don’t like to mow the grass.  We have over ¾ of an acre, and I spend two to three hours a week or more mowing and trimming, about 8 months a year.

Bake up some sticky, gooey deliciousness! Caramel Pecan Rolls

I am a huge caramel fan, so I increased the caramel and nuts from the original recipe to add even more topping to these rolls. This uses the same dough as the Cinnamon Rolls I posted earlier.

A plate of yummy goodness!

Orange you glad I am sharing this recipe?

Homemade Orange Rolls

I really enjoy this variation on my homemade sweet rolls. I made the recipe a few times tweaking the quantities and flavorings. Fortunately, I live with someone who is happy to act as taste tester.

Fashionably dressed: These ladies had some serious style!

It’s fun to look at how the fashions changed over the years.

Are you hungry?: Let’s bake homemade cinnamon rolls

I use the same basic recipe to make a variety of sweet rolls. There is cinnamon and its variations – raisin or raisin and apple. I make a delicious orange roll. There is a sticky pecan roll. I will cover each variety in a separate post.

I’m Lost: Where was this picture taken?

Who is in the picture? When was it taken?

Georgie and Walt. Taken in the summer of 1970

When you inherit a lot of pictures, you are often missing information about a picture or 200. Sometimes, you find information written on the photo, or in the album it is in. It may be fairly complete – with date, place, and people. It may be only one of these pieces of information, it may be none. Sometimes, people are identified with nicknames or middle names.

Creating a quilt for a challenge project: Book to fabric

Every other year, my local quilt guild has a show, and there is always a challenge project.  It encourages people to create something special in a theme to share with the visitors.  It often has restrictions as to size and other details.
