Easy turkey tetrazzini

Leftovers can create all kind of tasty meals. When I cook a turkey or turkey breast, I like to use the smaller pieces of meat to make turkey tetrazzini. There are a ton of variations out there, but here is my version.

William Bert Durfee was born on May 26, 1921 to Joseph and Nina Warren Durfee in Upton, Wyoming. Bill was Michelle’s first cousin twice removed. Her grandmother, Hazel Durfee Kellogg, was Bill’s cousin.

Taking care of your camping gear -part 3: repair kit

When you’re backpacking in the wilderness, every piece of gear you carry needs to work properly. If critical gear fails, you may have to cut your trip short. So it makes sense to carry a repair kit of some sort to deal with common problems. But what do you put in the kit?

William Delbert Hoel was born on May 19, 1911 to Alvah and Adaline Maffett Hoel. He was born in Sheridan Michigan. Delbert, as he was known, was Carl’s (Walt’s dad) cousin.

Taking care of your camping gear: Part two – laundry day

Part one of this series talked about the fabrics. Today we cover washing them. Using the proper settings to wash and dry your clothing and other gear will help it last longer, keep colors brighter and avoid damage. Some clothing has tags that tell you to wash in cold water and hang to dry while others might just have a series of symbols.

Of course, these are actual hieroglyphics, but unless you understand laundry care symbols, it’s not any different.

William J Link was born on May 12, 1827 in Ellabach (Oerlenbach), Bavaria. He was the son of George Link and Anna Mary Limbach (Eihnbach). William was Walt’s great, great grandfather.

Today, I am going to cover fabrics and insulators. Knowing what the material is will help you care for it properly.

On May 5, 1909 John H. Link married Josephine Schulte at St Mary’s Church in West Point, Iowa. John and Josephine are Walt’s great uncle and aunt. John’s brother William is Walt’s grandfather.

Making something better by accident

Sometimes when you start on a project you have an idea of what the finished product will look like but end up with something entirely different. Several years ago, I was planning a spinning stars quilt from a block I had seen. I had chosen some fun and funky fabrics. I packed them up and headed off to a quilt retreat. It was January, and it was the year that the Indianapolis Colts won the Superbowl.
