Happy Anniversary John and Josephine Link

On May 5, 1909 John H. Link married Josephine Schulte at St Mary’s Church in West Point, Iowa. John and Josephine are Walt’s great uncle and aunt. John’s brother William is Walt’s grandfather.

John H. Link was born to Isadore and Teresa Kempker Link on November 17, 1885 in West Point. Josephine Schulte was born March 27, 1882 to Theodore and Anna McBrady (or McBride) Schulte, also in West Point.

It’s not easy to read, but their marriage was recorded on April 27. John is listed as 24 years old and a farmer. Josephine is 28. Theodore Schulte and Ida Link were witnesses. The marriage ceremony was performed by William Jacoby, Rector.

In the 1910 census, John and Josephine are renting farmland in Pleasant Ridge Township of Lee County. By 1920, they have three children, including John, Junior, who was born on December 25, 1919. He was only 15 days old when the census was taken on January 9, 1920.

Got to say, I love these posts. I learn so much! Never having lived close enough to have known so much of our family. It is fascinating to me and I am aware of how much time you give to this. So much gratitude Michelle and Walt!
