Erma Hellweg Massey was born on August 21, 1932 in St Paul, Iowa. She is related on the Wellman side of the family.

Erma Rose Mary Hellweg was the 7th of ten children born to Rudolph and Elizabeth Umthum Hellweg. They lived in St Paul, Iowa. They were farmers. This picture is supposed to be Erma, but it doesn’t any dates or other information.

I found this delayed birth certificate for Erma. It is the only record I have found which spells her name as Irma.

Erma married Harold Massey on February 27, 1954 in St Paul. They lived in Fort Madison, where they had 7 children. A son died before the age of two. Erma ran a babysitting service from their home. According to his obituary, Skeet, as he was known, served in the Korean War. It also says he retired from the Lee County Shop Crew after 40 years in a995.

Erma Hellweg Massey died on September 1, 2007 in Macomb, Illinois, at the hospital there. She was living in Donnellson, Iowa at the time.
