Despite the name, this isn’t a blog about rabbits. That’s not to say we won’t ever mention rabbits (we just did. Twice, in fact.) But this blog isn’t really about that.

Just what it is, in fact, about is harder to say. The problem is, Michelle and I have a lot of interests. Some of them intertwine. Some intertwine with each other’s, and some interests we share. Worse yet, we’re both very curious people. We like to explore: places, ideas, skills. We like to make stories, and we like to enjoy the stories of others.

So really, an individual post on this blog could be about almost anything, though probably not about rabbits. Sound farfetched? Let me just tell you about our interests.

Michelle likes to make quilts. She’s a really good cook and baker. She also knits, does cross-stitch and needlepoint, does embroidery, and has played around with tatting. She enjoys making jewelry and doing beadwork. She paints miniature figures for roleplaying games. She plays board games and roleplaying games. She likes to read, especially fantasy and science fiction, though good historical fiction or a mystery will serve as well. She loves to hike, camp, and backpack. She can’t be much happier than when she’s catching bluegill on dry flies on a lake in the mountains somewhere (unless it’s catching trout instead). She’s a pretty good shot with rifle and pistol. She’s fascinated by genealogy. She also enjoys woodworking and furniture restoration.

I think that’s most of Michelle’s interest. But she says she reserves the right to add.

I, on the other hand, like to make things in my machine shop. I have a welder, and though I’m terrible at it, I’m trying to improve. I like to repair old airguns, and modify new ones. I like to shoot, and I’m a pretty good shot with rifle and pistol. I love to fish, and though I mostly fly fish, I’m open to whatever works. I love to hike and camp, as well as backpack. I’ve been playing roleplaying games for over 40 years, and during that time I’ve played close to 30 different systems. I’ve been game master for almost as long as I’ve played, and I’ve had a lot of thoughts on doing that. I’ve raced radio control cars. I love to read military histories, science fiction, and cosmic horror fiction, with occasional forays into fantasy, role playing supplements, and technical texts. I tie my own fishing flies, or at least some of them. Genealogy is very interesting. Sometimes I do woodworking in support of my metal work. I love public speaking and teaching. I’ve done some jewelry making, a little bit of sewing. I’ve learned to play the blues harmonica, though I’m terribly out of practice. I really enjoy listening to music, in genres ranging from classical to punk rock to delta blues.

So you’re likely to find a pretty wide range of subjects here. But we’ll always try to make the posts interesting to somebody, and to give you some avenues to explore a little deeper down, well, the rabbit hole. Er, Hoel.
