Josephine Schulte Link was born on March 27, 1182 in West Point, Iowa. She married John Link, Walt’s great-uncle.
Josephine Schulte was one of at least 9 children born to Theodore and Anna McBrady Schulte in West Point. Both of her parents were immigrants, Theodore coming in 1845 and Anna in 1858. In 1900, they had a farm near Pleasant Ridge. A few documents list her mother’s last name as McBride. I found that Anna was born in Ireland.
On May 5, 1909, Josephine married John Link. The record of their marriage says that John was 24 years old and a farmer. Josephine is 28. Theodore Schulte and Ida Link were witnesses. The marriage ceremony was performed by William Jacoby, Rector.
Josephine and John had 3 children together. They lived their whole lives in West Point where John farmed. In 1940, John was working as a machine operator. The census list the industry as “Custom Work.” By 1950, John was working at a saw mill. I wrote more about their marriage in this post. I wrote about John in this post.
Josephine Schulte Link died on December 19, 1954. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery.
