Eleanor Anna Johnson Hoel was born on March 23, 1910, in New London, Iowa. Her parents were Walter Carl Johnson and Ellen Lorraine McCabe.

Eleanor graduated from New London High School. She married Orville Ray Hoel on November 22, 1937. (You can read more about Orville here.)

They had 4 children together. Their first child, Donald, died soon after birth. They went on to have two daughters, Doris and Dorothy (they were featured in this post) and a son, William.

She lived in New London most of her life. She later lived in West Burlington, where her daughter Dorothy lived with her husband Wendell Linder.

This picture was taken at shared birthday party in the Summer of 2000. Eleanor had turned 90 earlier that year, and her daughter Dorothy had her 59th birthday.

Eleanor died January 3, 2004 in New London, Iowa.
