Marian Louise Holtkamp was born to Bernard and Louise Krueger Holtkamp on October 6, 1923. She was born in St. Paul, Iowa. She is a distant relation of Walt’s through his great-uncle Albert Link’s wife, Marie Clemens.

Alphonse Pollpeter and Gertrude Boeding were married on September 15, 1936 at St. Mary’s Church in West Point, Iowa. Gertrude is Walt’s second cousin once removed.
Martha Clemens was born on Septenber 8, 1916 to Frank and Josephine Krueger Clemens. She was born in West Point, Iowa. Two of her sisters married into Walt’s family. Her sister Marie married Albert Link, Walt’s great uncle. Martha’s sister Gertrude married Aloysius Brune, Walt’s second cousin once removed.
Robert was the youngest child of Isadore and Teresa Kempker Link. He was born on August 25, 1902. Robert is Walt’s great (or grand) uncle. His brother William (WJ) is Walt’s grandfather.
Mathilda Rose Link, best known as Tillie, was born on July 28, 1915. She is the daughter of John H and Josephine Schulte Link. She was Walt’s 1st cousin once removed.
Catherine Wellman was born on July 7, 1892 in Alsage by Ankum in Germany. Her parents were Herman and Mary Brinker Wellman. The family came to the United States in 1897. Catherine is Walt’s 1st cousin twice removed.. Herman and Walt’s great grandfather Gerhard were brothers.
When we were working on last week’s post about Henry and Anna Vonderhaar, I was interested to note that their parents had all immigrated at about the same time. I started looking at where they were from and discovered it was very likely they knew each other before they moved to Iowa. They were all from the area near Ankum, Germany.
On June 16 1908, Henry G. Vonderhaar married Anna Wellman at St. Mary’s Church in West Point, Iowa. Anna Wellman was Walt’s first cousin twice removed.
William J Link was born on May 12, 1827 in Ellabach (Oerlenbach), Bavaria. He was the son of George Link and Anna Mary Limbach (Eihnbach). William was Walt’s great, great grandfather.
