Veronica Moeller was born on April 4, 1889 In St. Paul, Iowa. She is Walt’s great aunt.
Veronica was born to Theodore and Elizabeth Fritzjunker Moeller in St. Paul, Iowa. She was their eldest child, the first of twelve. I wrote about Theodore and Elizabeth in this post. The family were farmers and lived in Lee County for many years.

Verona, as she was known, married George Wellman on June 12, 1918 in West Point at St. Mary of the Assumption Church. Their first child, Walter, was born the following year. I wrote about Walter in this post. They went on to have 7 more children. One son, Leonard died of pneumonia at the age of 2. The family had a farm and lived near West Point off of Highway 103.
Georgie wrote about George and Verona in her memories. She talked about Verona helping to “gather” feathers – removing the feathers while the birds were molting. She also mentioned that Verona made good lemon meringue pie.

George died in 1956. Verona Moeller Wellman lived in West Point until her death on February 12, 1996. She is buried in Calvary Cemetery in West Point.
