Even though I have some fancy power tools for shaping metal, I still reach for files every time I’m in the shop. As I mentioned in the shop tour, I have quite a large collection of files, in many shapes and sizes. Today I want to talk about them.

Marian Louise Holtkamp was born to Bernard and Louise Krueger Holtkamp on October 6, 1923. She was born in St. Paul, Iowa. She is a distant relation of Walt’s through his great-uncle Albert Link’s wife, Marie Clemens.

How does the soundtrack of your life go?

I don’t like mowing the lawn, but I take advantage of the time it takes to listen to music, a podcast, or an audio book. While I was mowing last weekend, I was thinking about the different playlists on my phone.

Margaret Barnes was born to Sylvester and Cornelia Parker Barnes on September 29, 1863. She was born in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Margaret is Michelle’s great, great-grandmother.

Hoel Notes! Going Down a Musical Rabbit Hole

It all started so innocently. A simple conversation with a coworker about music. His son had recently gotten a new electric guitar. I mentioned that Walt had been thinking about getting a guitar. The next thing you know, our home is starting to look like a music studio.

Making a Better Banana Bread

I have always liked the flavor of my banana bread recipe, but it was somewhat dense. Also nuts or chocolate chips fell to the bottom of the loaf. So I decided to try to use kitchen chemistry to see if I could fix those issues.
