Opal Marie Stetler was born on January 5, 1919, to Chancey and Grace Davis Stetler in Venedocia, Ohio. Opal married Walt’s second cousin, Harold Brehm.

Opal was the second child born to Chancey and Grace Stetler. Chancy married the much younger Grace in 1916 and he then served in World War I. He later worked as a railroad laborer and then in a factory in Ohio City, Ohio. The family later moved to Van Wert, Ohio.

1930 census shows the Stetler family

On June 19, 1943, Opal married Ernest F Hutton, a widower about 20 years older. They were married in Indiana. Ernest had 4 children by his first wife. They divorced sometime before 1948.

Opal married Harold Brehm on August 20, 1948 in Van Wert, Ohio. Harold was 19 when they married and Opal was 29. Harold was working in a factory.

In the 1950 census, we find Harold working as a laborer in a metal products company in Rockford, Ohio. I wrote about Harold’s brother Roma in this post.

Opal Marie and Harold continued to live in the area near Celina for many years. They had no children. They later moved to Grover Hill, Ohio. Opal died there on March 13, 1996.
