Alice Brune was born July 3, 1940 in West Point, Iowa. She is Walt’s 3rd cousin on the Wellman side of the family.
Alice Brune is the oldest child of Al and Gertrude Clemens Brune. Some records show Al’s first name as Alvis, but his marriage record shows it as Aloysius (as do Georgie’s notes). Al was a barber in West Point.
I found a record of her birth. It says delayed on the file book, but it is not like the delayed certificate found in this post. Alice’s birth certificate is considered “delayed” because she was born at home and her mother registered the birth about a week later. I wrote about Gertrude in this post.

We see her full name, Alice Josephine Brune. The paperwork was filled out on July 8, and the certificate was issued on August 15, 1940. It gives the tine of birth as 3 pm. Al and Gertrude went on to have 4 more children.
Alice Brune went to school at St. Mary’s Catholic School in West Point and studied nursing at Burlington’s School of Nursing.

On February 13, 1965, Alice married Thomas Driscoll at St. Mary of the Assumption in West Point. Thomas worked for the Iowa-Illinois Telephone Company. He served two years in the army. He was a heavy machinery operator and had his own business for a time. Alice and Thomas had two children. I found this picture of Alice, but do not have a date for it.
Alice Brune Driscoll dies on January 3, 2022 in Donnellson, Iowa. She and Thomas are buried in Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
I wrote about Alice’s grandparents, Ben and Bernadine Wellman Brune in this post.
