On this day in 1908, Gertrude Clemens was born to Frank and Josephine Krueger Clemens in West Point, Iowa. Gertrude lived in West Point her entire life.

We see Gertrude, her parents, and her siblings in the 1910 census living in West Point where her father worked as a house painter. There were 7 children living in the household at that time.

In the 1930 census, she is 21, still living with her parents and two younger brothers, and working as a bookkeeper.

Gertrude married Georgie’s second cousin Aloysius Brune on June 21, 1938 in St Mary’s Church in West Point. Al was working as a barber at the time.

Al and Gertrude had 5 children. Gertrude died on April 28, 1991 and is buried in Calvary Cemetery. Al died on April 8, 1998.

Gertrude’s family has more than one connection to Walt’s family. Her sister Marie married Walt’s great uncle Albert Link.
