Harry (Buck) Buckles and Wilma (Billie) Link were married on July 10, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. Buck and Billie are Walt’s aunt & uncle.
Harry Buckles was born May 23, 1920 in Lafayette, Indiana to Harry and Gertrude Hill Buckles. I know that they lived in Indiana for some time. Harry served in the Navy during World War II in the pacific. He was something of a troublemaker and near was dishonorably discharged. I’ve found out a fair amount about his service, but that will be for another post.
1950 finds Buck living in the Royalton Hotel at 1810 W Jackson Boulevard in Chicago, Illinois. The Census shows him as married, but I haven’t found a marriage record. He is listed as a truck driver for a repair shop.
Wilma Link was born July 12, 1933, the youngest child of W.J. and Lizzie Wellman Link. She lived in West Point, Iowa until the early 1950s. Her sister Louise was living in Chicago, and so she moved there.
Buck and Billie married in Chicago. I found the marriage in an index for Cook County, but don’t have a copy of the record. Their first child, Chuck, was born in 1955. Chuck is the baby in this picture taken in West Point, Iowa.

Buck and Billie had another child a few years later. They ran a trucking company for many years. Buck was known for his candy making and chess games.

Buck died November 7, 1991 in Fox Lake, Illinois. Billie died March 6, 2002.
I’ve written lots about this side of the family. This post is about aunt Billie.
