Anna Harms was born on March 7, 1870 in the Nebraska Territory. She is Michelle’s 2nd great-grandmother.
Anna was the 5th of 7 children born to Harmon and Gretje Yelken Harms. They lived near the town of Auburn in Nemaha County. The family had a farm. Gretje died in 1975, and Harmon married Rachel Steinmann in 1876. They had 5 more children, three of whom died in infancy.
Anna married Charles Todd Durfee in Rock Port, Missouri, on Feb 20, 1889. They moved to a homestead near Hulett, Wyoming, after their marriage. Wyoming became a state in 1890. They had 6 children, and lived on the ranch until 1929, when they bought a house in Hulett. Anna Harms Durfee died December 19, 1946.
