Margaret Barnes was born to Sylvester and Cornelia Parker Barnes on September 29, 1863. She was born in Whitewater, Wisconsin. Margaret is Michelle’s great, great-grandmother.

Margaret was frequently called Maggie in the records. She had an older sister named Carrie. They and their parents lived in Whitewater. In the 1870 census, we find that her father, Sylvester, is the foreman in a wagon making shop.

In 1880, Maggie is in school. Her father is still working as a wagon maker. Her sister Carrie is working as a housekeeper.

On May 5th, 1889, Maggie married George Olney Kellogg in Whitewater, Wisconsin. George was working as a cheese maker at the time.

Maggie and George had one child, Amos, who was born on November 15, 1889 (some records say he was born November 15, 1890). You can read more about Amos here. During their marriage, Maggie and George lived for a time in Grant County, where George owned a cheese factory.

Margaret Barnes Kellogg died on March 13, 1894 in Whitewater Wisconsin. Amos was not yet 5 years old.
