It’s a bit of a let down to put away the holiday decor. All the bright colors and lights brighten up winter days. We take down our tree after Epiphany. There is one bit of Christmas that is always the last piece to be put away.

Image shows a decorated tree with colored lights next to a brick fireplace. Two stockings are hung on the mantle.
Our tree this year and the stockings hung by the fireplace.

Once the tree is down, there are a number of small items that decorate various areas in the house. We gather them up and pack them away for another year. One year, we missed one of them and noticed it a few days later.

Image shows a hanging cloth and plastic decoration. Mrs. Claus is kissing Santa on the cheek. A bunch of plastic mistletoe hangs beneath their feet, tied by a red ribbon.
This little Santa and Mrs. Claus with mistletoe hangs in a doorway.

This little decoration hangs in the doorway between our kitchen and the rest of the house. We use the door into the kitchen as our main entrance as the garage is on that side of the house. So we are constantly going back and forth under the mistletoe.

We don’t really need the excuse, but it’s always nice to get a kiss from your sweetie.

It has now become a bit of a joke in the house to not take down Santa and Mrs. Claus until we have a really good reason. They have managed to stay there until our anniversary in March on more than one occasion.

I hope you enjoy this little bit of humor and love from our home.
