Kenneth Richard Henry Kempker was born on July 26, 1927 in St Paul, Iowa. His parents were John and Sadie Merschman Kempker. Kenneth is a distant relation of Walt’s through the Wellman side of the family.

Sarah Jane Hole was born on July 19, 1887 to John Swisher and Lydia Finkbone Hole. She was born on the family farm in Darke County, Ohio. Sarah is Walt’s great-aunt.
We have talked a fair amount about cooking when backpacking. We aren’t always carrying things on our backs, so when we aren’t limited in that way, we like to have a bit more to cook with. Here’s a look at some of things we take when we are car camping or cabin camping.
Wilma Ada Link was born on July 12, 1933 in West Point, Iowa. Her parents were William John and Elizabeth Wellman Link. Billie is Walt’s aunt.
We regret to inform you of the passing of a trusted home appliance, our dear stove, Kenmore Plus. It has featured on this blog many times, being the background for many of the pictures of posts on cooking.
On our recent trip to South Dakota, we went into Wyoming for a day trip. We stopped in Sundance, Wyoming, at the Crook County Courthouse. We didn’t have a lot of time, but we were able to find a deed for some property purchased on Black Tail Creek by one of Michelle’s relatives.

We had a good month off and are back on the blog again. And we did do some fishing. We spent a few days out in the Black Hills of South Dakota with a day trip into Wyoming.


We are taking the month of June off. We have some family visiting and some landscape projects we are working on. And, if all goes well, some fishing too!
