William J Link and Elizabeth Wellman were married on August 2, 1916 at St. Mary’s Church in West Point, Iowa. WJ and Lizzie are Walt’s grandparents.

William John Link was born on February 10, 1884 to Isadore and Teresa Kempker Link in West Point. Elizabeth Wellman was born to Gerhard and Maria Kruempelmann Wellman on April 2, 1890 in West Point. You can read more about WJ in this post and Lizzie in this one.

After WJ and Lizzie were married, they traveled to North Dakota for their honeymoon. We found this picture of them in North Dakota. It was a working honeymoon, as WJ traveled there for many years, threshing on farms across the Dakotas. You can read about one of his machines in this post.

WJ and Lizzie had five children, Georgina, Louise, Frances, Arthur, and Wilma. I’ve written about them in many posts. You can search for them in the search box or look by category or tag.

WJ died on February 1, 1957. Lizzie died on October 31, 1976.
