Theresa Lohman Meerians was born on May 22, 1884 in Fort Madison, Iowa. She is related through the Wellman side of the family.

Theresa was the 10th child of August and Clara Holtfoerster Lohman. the family were farmers outside of West Point. She lived with them until her marriage.

According to the information I have, this is a picture from around 1888 of the Lohman family. Standing – Bernard, Martin, Catherine (Kate), Anna, Clara. Seated – Herman, August, Clara, Mary. In front – Wilhelmina (Minnie), Theresa, Eda

On June 23, 1908, Theresa Lohman married Linus Merrians. Linus was the son of Henry and Mary Wieblor Meerians. Linus was born in Iowa, but had moved to Horton, Kansas, by the time of their marriage. He was working as a machinist for the Rock Island Railroad.

Theresa and Linus were married in West Point by Father Jacoby. They lived in Horton for some time and all six of their children were born there. Linus continued to work for the railroad, as did at least one of their sons.

By 1945, we find them living in Kansas City, Kansas. Linus is still working for the railroad. It appears from city directory, they may have been living with of near two of their sons, John and Paul. Their 3rd son, Phillip had been killed in World War II in the Pacific while serving in the Navy.

Theresa Lohman Meerians died December 12, 1950. Her husband died a few months later, on May 13, 1951.

I wrote about some of Theresa’s siblings. Sister Ana in this post, sister Eda in this post, and brother Barney in this post.
