Eda Lohman was born on August 29, 1879 in Lee County, Iowa. She is related to Walt through the Wellman side of the family.
Eda Catherine Lohman was the eighth of 10 children born to August and Clara Holzfoester Lohman. The family had a farm in West Point Township.

Eda had very little schooling and worked as a domestic servant for many years. She evidently did well for herself, as the 1910 census finds her living in West Point in a home she owned.
On Jun 21, 1910, Aloysius Harmeyer married Eda Lohman. You can read more about Al in this post. Interestingly, I found a few references to them being married in 1913. The marriage record clearly states 1910. And like many from the era and area, they were married by Rev. Jacoby.
Eda and Al took in Mary Catherine Lohman. Mary was the daughter of Eda’s brother John and his wife Mary Fullenkamp Lohman. The elder Mary died just a couple of weeks after Mary Catherine was born.
Through the 1930s and 1940s, Al was working as a plumber in West Point. By the 1950 census, Al and Eda are retired and still living in West Point. Al died in April 25, 1965. Eda died April 30, 1968.
