Catherine Holtkamp was born on September 5, 1907 in Lee County Iowa. She is related to Walt through the Kempkers.

Catherine Madeleine Holtkamp was born to Gerard and Christina Meierotto Holtkamp. Gerard was a farmer, first in Lee County, then later in Henry County. He and Christina only had one other child, a son who died at birth.

Catherine Holtkamp married Alfred Menke on September 8, 1926 in Houghton, Iowa. I found the record of their marriage.

Alfred was a farmer in Lee County. He also worked as a driver at times for different companies. I found him in the 1949 city directory for Fort Madison driving for the Lagmarcino-Grupe Company.

Catherine and Alfred had three daughters, two of whom died in infancy. Alfred died in 1966. Catherine Holtkamp Menke died on September 18, 1971. They are buried in St. Johns Cemetery in Houghton.
