Sometimes, life throws you a curve ball. Usually, it interferes with something you are trying to accomplish. A slow draining shower turned into a much larger project.
If you are not familiar with plumbing incantations, they are an assortment of terms that are used while working on plumbing projects. They include words such as @#$%, &!**(^, and +”(^. They must be used with profusion during a project, and even muttered under your breath while you are making the obligatory 3rd trip to the hardware store.
Our shower was draining slowly. We thought we would pop the lift bucket out and run a snake through to clean in out. The lift bucket is the stopper to fill up the tub in our system
Unfortunately, things went south almost immediately. The screws broke off. They were not brass and had rusted through. It didn’t get any better.
More pieces chose to break and we were left with the lift bucket stuck in in the pipe. Some more working at it didn’t produce any way to get it out. Despite the large number of plumbing incantations that were used, we were left with the pile of broken parts and an opening in our bathtub.
It will be waiting like this for several days while a plumber orders parts and comes to replace the section of pipes. At least we can still use the shower.
