Alphonse Pollpeter and Gertrude Boeding were married on September 15, 1936 at St. Mary’s Church in West Point, Iowa. Gertrude is Walt’s second cousin once removed.

Alphonse is the son John and Catherine Boeding Pollpeter. He was born on April 26 1911 in West Point, Iowa. Alphonse was a farmer at the time of his wedding.

Gertrude was born in Ipswich, South Dakota. Her parents were William and Catherine Wellman Boeding. Gertrude moved West Point in the early 1930s.

Alphonse and Gertrude made there home on a farm near West Point. By the 1950 census, all five of their children had been born.

Alphonse and Gertrude were not the only siblings who got married within the family. Alphonse’s sister Lenore married Gertrude’s brother Vincent.

I’ve talked about Alphonse’s brother Stacy in this post.

When I was working on this post, I realized that there was another relationship between the two families. Gertrude’s father William Boeding and Alphonse’s mother Catherine Boeding are first cousins!

Alphonse died on September 26, 1975. Gertrude died on March 21, 2006.
