Sometimes a picture can take you deep down a rabbit hole. I found this picture of Walt’s great-grandmother, Ann (or Anna) Redmond Fisher. It was taken sometime before 1919, but I don’t know the exact date.
I haven’t done much research on this part of the family yet and was curious what I could find out. A few of hours later, and I added another generation to that part of the family tree.
Ann Redmond was born on March 31, 1833 in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania to Thomas Allen and Catherine Moore Redmond. They were first generation Irish immigrants. Ann married Benjamin Fisher (referred to in some places as John Benjamin Fisher) in 1864.
Ann and Benjamin are the parents on Martha Ann Fisher, Walt’s Grandma Hoel. I talked more about her in this post.
The Picture
Like many of these older photos, not everyone is identified. None of the children are named, but I may be able to figure out some of them as I go on.
In the front row are Grandma Ann Fisher, Aunt Nancy Fisher (Ann’s sister who also married a Fisher), and Aunt Edith Fisher Redmond
(not sure of the connections here).
The next row has a couple of unidentified adults: unknown, Minnie Redmond Miller (Edith’s daughter), Dessie Redmond Deitrik (Edith’s daughter), unknown, Zaddie Redmond (Edith’s daughter), Mrs and Mr Bill Redmond, and Goldie Lacie Betts.
The three men in the back row are Frank Fisher, Arthur Fisher (Martha’s brother), and Allen Redmond.
I am really looking forward to seeing what else I can find out about this branch of the family.
