Hyman Trevett was born on March 6, 1831 in Concord, New York. He was Michelle’s 4th great-uncle.
Hyman Trevett was the 8th of 11 children born to Lewis and Sarepta Matthews Trevett. They were farmers in New York.
Hyman married Albina Trevett (sometimes listed as Trivett) on November 21, 1852. They had a farm in Erie County. In 1862, the family moved to Wisconsin. For nine years, Hyman and Albina had a farm near Cross Plains in Dane County.
In 1871, they moved to Kansas. Hyman continued to farm, this time in Smith County. In 1874, he was appointed the Postmaster of Judson. I’m not sure how long he served. I’ve found a land patent for a homestead from 1880, but it only has initials, so I will need to do some more research to be sure it is the same person.
Hyman and Albina had a total of 14 children, but only 7 lived to adulthood. Albina died on May 22, 1893. Hyman continued to live in Kansas until his death on January 3, 1907.

I wrote about Hyman’s sister Mary in this post.
