On October 11, 1865, Johann Heinrich Boeding married Elizabeth Becker. They are distant relations on the Link side of Walt’s family.

Johann Heinrich Boeding is the son of Franz and Anna Lodenkamp Boeding. I wrote about them here. He was born in Prussia and came to the United States in 1859. I don’t know much about his life before then. He moved to Lee County, Iowa.

Elizabeth Becker is the daughter of Henry and Catherine Becker. I wrote more about her in this post. She was the first member of her family born in the United States.

Johann and Elizabeth Boeding

Johann and Elizabeth were married on October 11, 1865. He was a farmer in Lee County until Johann’s death on April 18, 1902. The family continued farming into the 1910s. By 1930, Elizabeth lived with two of her daughters in West Point. Their eldest daughter Elizabeth was working as a practical nurse. Their youngest daughter Nora was working as a seamstress. They also had a border, Herman Pohlpeter, who was working as a welder in a garage.

Elizabeth died on October 15, 1939. Johann and Elizabeth were both buried in Calvary Cemetery in West Point, Iowa.
