Sarah Jane Hole was born on July 19, 1887 to John Swisher and Lydia Finkbone Hole. She was born on the family farm in Darke County, Ohio. Sarah is Walt’s great-aunt.

Sarah was the ninth child born to John Swisher and Lydia Hole. The family moved to Mercer County, Ohio sometime before 1900 and continued farming there.

We see Sarah in the front of this picture at about 2 years old.

Sarah married Charles Hudson McCain on March 28, 1907 in Celina, Ohio. Charles was a farmer in Mercer County. Charley, as he was known, was the son of Benjamin and Mary McCain.

Sarah and Charley had their first child in January of 1908. They went on to have 10 children altogether. One son died in infancy.

Sarah Hole McCain died on August 30, 1957 in Celina, Ohio. She had 25 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren at the time of her death.
