Sallee Durfee was born on May 24, 1879 in Missouri to Aaron and Sarah Todd Durfee. Sallee is Michelle’s 3rd great-aunt.

Sallee Durfee was the last child born to Aaron and Sarah (Sallee) Durfee. Aaron and Sallie had 8 children, but only 4 survived to adulthood. Aaron was a banker. They started out living in Clay township in Atchison County, Missouri, but soon moved to Rock Port.

We see Sallee as a one year old in the 1880 census.

On November 24, 1897, Sallee married Dr. John Bostwick in Rock Port. Sometime shortly thereafter, Sallee and John moved to Hulett, Wyoming. Sallee’s brother Charles Durfee had moved to Wyoming in the 1880s.

Sallee and John lived in Hulett until John’s death on February 18, 1940. Sllie moved back to Rockport soon thereafter. She married William A. Luhrs that same year. William was a widower with a grown son. Sallee and William had been friends since childhood.

William died July 20, 1951 while visiting in Iowa. Sallee Durfee Bostwick Luhrs died on April 20, 1954 in Fairfax, Missouri.
