Francis Mansheim and Catherine Hundt married on February 13, 1901. Their son married Walt’s 2nd cousin once removed, Evelyn Brune.
Francis “Frank” Herman Manscheim was born on August 14, 1875, to Clement and Anna Pennartz Mansheim in Fort Madison, Iowa. The family lived near town and had a farm.
Catherine “Kate” Caroline Hundt was born January 9, 1878 to August and Emma Breiner Hundt in Edina, Missouri. August was a cooper. By the 1880 census, the family was living in Fort Madison.
On February 13, 1901, Frank and Kate Mansheim married at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison. The Reverend Charles Hundt, Kate’s uncle, performed the ceremony.

Frank and Kate had a farm in Jefferson Township, Lee County, Iowa. They had seven children together, with one daughter dying in infancy. By 1920, they owned their farm. Their 6 six surviving children were living with them as well as a nephew. They lived on the farm for many years.
Sometime in the 1940s, they moved to Fort Madison and lived with their divorced daughter Emma and her children.
Frank & Kate Mansheim celebrated their 50th anniversary with a mass at Sacred Heart, and dinner in hall, and an open house in the afternoon. The event was written up in the Fort Madison Evening Democrat.

Kate died on November 27, 1965. Frank died October 5, 1968.
Their son Frank married Evelyn Brune in 1940. I wrote about her parents in this post.
