Reuben Linderman and Genevieve Boeding were married on December 1, 1939 in Mobridge, South Dakota. Genevieve is Walt’s 1st cousin once removed.
Reuben was born to Phillipp and Johanna Enzi Linderman in Mound City, South Dakota on February 10, 1910. He was one of at least 7 children. His parents were immigrants from eastern Europe sometime in the late 1800s. The family had a farm near Mound City.
By 1920, the family had moved to Walworth and Phillipp was working as a teamster for the city. One sister worked at a bakery and another was a telephone operator.
Genevieve Boeding was born on December 15, 1915 to William and Mary Wellman Boeding in Glad Valley, South Dakota. William and Mary Boeding had married in West Point, Iowa in 1905 and moved to South Dakota. Genevieve was one of 13 children born into the family. William and Mary Boeding also were farmers.

Reuben and Genevieve were married at St. Joseph’s Church in Mobridge, South Dakota on December 1, 1939.
In 1940, Reuben was working as a surveyor for the State Highway Department and Genevieve was working as a nurse. His sister, Pauline Dame, recently widowed, was living with them.
In July of 1943, Reuben enlisted in the US Naval Reserve. He served as a Chief Carpenter’s Mate. He finished his service on the USS Barnwell on December 15, 1945. You can read more about the Barnwell here.
By 1950, Reuben and Genevieve were living in Hot Springs, South Dakota with three young sons. Reuben was working as a civil engineer with the Bureau of Reclamation. They had a fourth son, and remained in South Dakota, living in Huron in 1955.
Reuben died on February 3, 1965. Genevieve died on September 30 , 1975.
