Each new year, I take some time to clean out file folders and straighten up things. I like to start fresh and it gives me a chance to see what needs fixing, updating, mending and so on. One of the things I do is update my files on family history.

I create a folder on my computer for each post I do on the blog. At the end of the year, I like to go through and make sure I have the date of each post as part of the name on the folder.

This year, I also updated my software to the latest version. There are a few new features that I am still learning. My software lets me produce lots of reports, so I also create updated birthday and anniversary lists. I do this two or three times a year as I am constantly updating information in the tree as I work.

I can create custom facts, so one of my facts is Blog post. I can choose what is displayed on the facts page about a person, so I added that blog post fact. This lets me see as I am working on my tree who I have written about and when.
