In 1940, Carl and Georgie went to Michigan to visit Aaron and Edna Hoel. They took a number of pictures of the trip, but most were only labeled Michigan and the date. Here are some of those pictures.

John Benjamin Hoel was born on October 2, 1894 in Mercer County, Ohio. He is Walt’s uncle.
James Joseph Fedler was born on September 25, 1925, in West Point, Iowa. He is related through the Wellman Side of the family.
John Christopher Meierotto and Anna Maria Hutchons were married on September 18, 1856 in Lee County, Iowa. Their granddaughter married Walt’s 1st cousin twice removed, Herman Brockman. This connection is through the Kempker side of the family.
Twenty-five years ago, the world witnessed an act that changed it substantially. I was at work, having gone in early as it was my last week of my current job at that time. Walt was in Washington DC for work.
