William Trevett was born on April 4, 1896 in Emerson Nebraska. He is Michelle’s great, great uncle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

William Henry Trevett was the 4th child born to Orlando and Francis Cox Trevett. I wrote about Orlando in this post<\/a>. William lived with his family into the early 1920s on the family farm.<\/p>\n\n\n

I found a fair amount about William and his service in World War I. He registered for the draft on June 5, 1917. William enlisted on September 18, 1917. He served with the 87th Division, 335th unit. He was in the field artillery, Battery D. It was a light artillery company. They trained for several months and the division traveled to Europe in groups. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

I found some transport documents in my research. These two images show the departure from Hoboken, New Jersey in early September 1918. The second image shows the arrival document from Liverpool.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The company was in movement to the front lines when the Armistice was declared on November 11, 1918. The troops returned to the United States in January 1919. William was discharged from the Army on March 18, 1919. He returned to Nebraska where he worked as a day laborer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marriage and later<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

On January 19, 1921, William Trevett married Opal Adella Weldon. They lived in Dixon County and had a farm. I’m not sure if it was the same farm where his father farmed. They had three children at the time of the census, and had a fourth in 1932. They continued to live in Nebraska for some time. I found one note that said that William was living in Orlando at the time of his death. All other documents state that William Trevett died on July 29, 1959 in Emerson, Nebraska. It is possible that he was living in Orlando and died while visiting Nebraska. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

William is buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in Emerson. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
