Francis Mansheim and Catherine Hundt married on February 13, 1901. Their son married Walt’s 2nd cousin once removed, Evelyn Brune. <\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Francis “Frank” Herman Manscheim was born on August 14, 1875, to Clement and Anna Pennartz Mansheim in Fort Madison, Iowa. The family lived near town and had a farm. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Catherine “Kate” Caroline Hundt was born January 9, 1878 to August and Emma Breiner Hundt in Edina, Missouri. August was a cooper. By the 1880 census, the family was living in Fort Madison. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

On February 13, 1901, Frank and Kate Mansheim married at Sacred Heart Church in Fort Madison. The Reverend Charles Hundt, Kate’s uncle, performed the ceremony.<\/p>\n\n\n

Frank and Kate had a farm in Jefferson Township, Lee County, Iowa. They had seven children together, with one daughter dying in infancy. By 1920, they owned their farm. Their 6 six surviving children were living with them as well as a nephew. They lived on the farm for many years. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sometime in the 1940s, they moved to Fort Madison and lived with their divorced daughter Emma and her children. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Frank & Kate Mansheim celebrated their 50th anniversary with a mass at Sacred Heart, and dinner in hall, and an open house in the afternoon. The event was written up in the Fort Madison Evening Democrat. <\/p>\n\n\n

Kate died on November 27, 1965. Frank died October 5, 1968. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
