Cletus “Clip” Freitag was born on September 16, 1914 in Lee County, Iowa. His parents were William Henry Freitag and Catherine Bernadine Menke.

Several of Cletus’ family members lived across the river near in Illinois. They would often walk across the bridge to visit.

Cletus married Dolores Wellman on February 14, 1939. Dolores was the daughter of Bernard and Teresa Wellman. Dolores was Georgina’s cousin.

They had one son Mark.

They had a farm until Cletus’ death on November 15, 1955. Dolores worked at Freitag Implement for several years and then became postmaster at the West Point Post Office.

Fun side fact: I found that one of Cletus brothers, Leo Joseph Freitag married Dolores’ 2nd cousin Rose Wellman.
