Sometimes you have some odds and ends left over from a project. This can be something you cooked or something you made. Here is an example of using the cut off parts of a quilt I made a few years ago for a cousin’s grandbaby.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The original quilt used a block called a snowball. It has small triangles added to the corners of a square to make then appear slightly rounded. This is one of the blocks. I used plain blocks to help set off the brightly colored snowballs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you make these blocks, you trim off the corner to keep from having too much extra fabric when you are quilting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I had a pile of little triangles left from making the quilt, so I sewed them together into squares. Laying them out into a pattern took a little time, but when I had a design I liked, I then sewed those squares together. The squares are about one inch finished. The whole quilt is 13.5 inches by 9.5 inches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I used a bunch of scraps to make the back too. The little triangles were sewn together to make some flying geese. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s always fun to use up the leftovers in creative ways. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
