That was not the only document that was translated for us. Today, we&#8217;ll take a look at Gerhard Wellman&#8217;s service record. Lieutenant  <\/pre>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"has-background wp-block-heading\" style=\"background-color:#c5cecf\">Digging deeper: Pomerania?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-background wp-block-paragraph\" style=\"background-color:#c5cecf\">The translation also had an interesting bit that I was able to sort out later. They were unable to figure out a word in the unit he served with, hence the &#8220;Pommerschas?&#8221;  Doing some research, I discovered that the word was Pommersches, which translates to Pomerania. This refers to the historic region&nbsp;of northeastern Europe lying along the Baltic coastal plain between the Oder and the Vistula rivers. Mostly in Poland now, part is in modern Germany.
